ALICE ANDRÉS RIBEIRO

Alice is a civic entrepreneur and a leader on issues related to increasing the quality and equality of public basic education in Brazil. Since 2014 she is the Co-CEO of Movimento pela Base, an institute that has been pivotal to the construction and implementation of Brazil Nacional Learning Standards with technical quality as well as with political legitimacy. Alice also currently works as a consultant for Rede Globo, Brazil's largest broadcaster, advising the Social Responsibility Department on how to approach educational strategic matters in entertainment, news and events.
Alice has extensive experience in leading high profile networks. Before joining the institute, Alice served in the Municipal Department of Education of Rio de Janeiro, where she contributed to the quality and equality of education in 155 Schools located in the most vulnerable neighborhoods of Rio; and in Instituto Sou da Paz she led innovative initiatives that contributed to the decrease of firearm related homicides in Brazil.
Alice earned a Master's Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation from the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (Italy); and another Master's Degree in Public Administration and Government from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (Brazil).
